Vybz Kartel is Urging Tommy Lee to finish his beef with Bounty Killa

Vybz Kartel is urging his protégé Tommy Lee to end his beef with dancehall legend Bounty Killer.

Last week Bounty Killer ignited a heated debate in dancehall over Tommy Lee’s use of dominic lyrics and branding himself Sparta. A few days later Tommy Lee hit back hard with a diss track “Goat Head,” where he took several shots at the Alliance Next Generation head.

Sources close to Vybz Kartel who is currently behind bars, exclusively told Urban Islandz that he is against the beef.

“Despite their differences Vybz still have a lot of respect for Bounty Killer,” the source said.

“He spoke with Tommy Lee via a phone call and told him to resist from engaging in a beef with Killer. Worl’Boss genuinely feels that the beef is not good for Tommy Lee career which he should more focus on building,” the source added.

Bounty Killer Says Tommy Lee New Name Is What…
Tommy Lee has also indicated that he has no interest in a continuous beef with Bounty Killer. The source also revealed that Tommy Lee did not want to do a diss track but feels he needed to defend himself.

“The sudden attack from Bounty Killer was not necessary and Tommy Lee feel like as a younger artist him need fi defend himself,” the source.

Bounty Killer has yet to respond to Tommy lee’s diss track at least musically.

Bounty Aims to Kill Badmind Mentality in Dancehall

The legendary dancehall record label headed by the General himself, Bounty Killer, has taken it upon itself to rid the land of badminded people.  Like many other movements Alliance has led, it is executing the badmind purge through music.
Speaking out the loudest against badmind mentality and those consumed by it, is none other than Bounty Killer himself who this week flooded the music charts with the single 'Badmind Dem A Pree'.  On the no holds barred 'Badmind Dem A Pree' Bounty is assisted by dancehall-reggae singjay I-OCTANE.  Together they make it clear that badmind is the work of the devil and will not be tolerated any longer.  'Badmind Dem A Pree' is available now on iTunes and is produced by Markus A Myrie of Markus Records, who is also the son of reggae superstar Buju Banton.  (Listen to ‘Badmind Dem A Pree’ via @youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCLO6z3hAOU)

Echoing the General's feelings towards badminded people is his Alliance artiste BIG WAYNE with his own infectious single 'How Dem Badmind So'.  (Watch the 'How Dem Badmind So' video via @youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAMGRPWCTHg.  In 'How Dem Badmind So' Big Wayne sings about how Bounty Killer tells him to avoid badminded people and Cross Cris, Alliance Next Generation's manager, tells him to keep an eye out for fake friends on the horizon.  'How Dem Badmind So' features Canada's hottest dancehall artiste, the fast-rising lyrical deejay SUPREME (Spreez Music Group) and is produced by Evolution Studios SVG.

Tommy Lee Calmly Responds to Bounty Killas Harsh Statement

Bounty Killa Lashes Out on Tommy Lee

Highly regarded Dancehall legend, Bounty Killer doesn’t seem to be one to jump on the ever-growing Tommy Lee bandwagon after the Alliance leader called out the popular Gaza artiste regarding his persona and lyrical content.

Tommy Lee rose to prominence due to his unique, intimidating sound as well as him self-proclaimed ‘gothic’ type of Dancehall in which he sometimes wears masks in his music videos. However, that ‘dark’ form of Dancehall has rubbed many industry players the wrong way, including Bounty Killer, who tweeted out a link making reference to the ‘Sparta’ persona that Tommy Lee sports.

“All a who a call dem self "SPARTA" Click this Rassc**** http://sexandhistory.blogspot.com/2008/06/sparta-experiment-in-state-fostered.html … !! Tell Mi If Unu A "SPARTA" Again zeen?” Bounty Killer tweeted, showing a link that ties the ‘Sparta’ concept to homosexuality.

Bounty Killer then reportedly issued a statement, through Alliance Next Generation manager, Cross Cris, explaining his reservations against Tommy Lee and other artistes who sing similar lyrics.

“Tired a dem now yow every man know a me say youths fi run the place, but nuh come chat nuh f****y bout freak and devil or demon, ago kill off some a dem, so when a man ago sing certain things him nuh think say nobody was gonna have a problem wid him argument dem, a when since u can just come inna dancehall and a bring een demon ppl freely so? how long we have we dancehall nice and pure mad mi mad to bloodc****, some a dem too brite and no big man inna dancehall naah stand up and tell dem say dat nuh accepted, ppl mi fight fi dancehall wid mi life and say f**k career dem naah mash it up enuh!” the statement read.

To make matters more intriguing, Bounty Killer even hinted that he might be seeking a clash at STING 2012 to further outline his stance.

“Christmas is 4 Christ so nuh demon or devil cyaah win we a bloodcl*** all a dem a dead a Sting!!!” he said. “Mi nuh business who waah agree or disagree, i care zero mi naah look nuh support god blessed me enuff 4 me to put it all on the line 4 his cause any thing opposed GOD’S word mi and dem bumbocl**** God have him Killer to inna the name of Jesus i wash dem in dem own blood now!!!”

Tommy Lee recently raised eyebrows with a recent single entitled Uncle Demon, which raised speculation about the ‘Gaza’ artiste’s style. Days later, his long-time mentor, Vybz Kartel released a track mirroring that concept dubbed, Daddy Devil.

"Jamaican Men would prefer to SING than get an EDUCATION" President MUGABE

hMany Jamaicans who go overseas will tell you that they’re often confronted with the stereotypes that people from the island either smoke or drink often. Those labels apparently have been slapped on Jamaicans by one of Africa’s most revered leaders.

Robert Mugabe, the president of Zimbabwe, reportedly took shots at Jamaicans at a recent university lecture dubbed the Research and Intellectual Expo 2012. According to Zimbabwean internet news and entertainment outlet, Nehanda Radio, President Mugabe branded Jamaican men as weed smokers and drunkards.

According to the report, Mugabe allegedly described Jamaica as, "a country of marijuana smokers, where women are now taking charge since men are always sloshed (drunk).”

President Mugabe, who neither smokes nor drinks alcohol, insisted that Zimbabweans should never follow in Jamaica’s footsteps while implying that the island’s culture has negatively influenced his people. This, as speculation mounts that Mugabe has diplomatic differences with Jamaica.

The report by Nehanda Radio also stated that Mugabe, who's previously traveled to the island, intimated that Jamaicans are free to smoke marijuana despite the herb being illegal in the island while also alleging that local men prefer to sing that get an education.

"In Jamaica, they have freedom to smoke mbanje, varume vanogara vakadhakwa (men are always drunk) and universities are full of women," Mugabe allegedly said.

"The men want to sing and do not go to colleges vamwe vanobva vamonwa musoro (some are dreadlocked). Let us not go there."

The report also claims that Mugabe isn’t enthused by the praise that countless Reggae and Dancehall artistes have heaped upon him in song.

Jamaicans remember Mugabe given that the island’s most decorated artiste, Bob Marley performed at an a concert on the day when Zimbabwe gained independence in April, 1980. Marley sang the aptly titled classic, Zimbabwe at the event and people from the South African country revere Marley as one of their heroes.

Internationally acclaimed Reggae artiste, Sizzla Kalonji also performed at a birthday concert for President Mugabe in 2010, drawing much controversy in the process.

"I see him as one of my fathers from Africa," Sizzla said at the time.

"He's part of my nation, the black nation. In all that he's done - whether it's good or bad - I hope and pray that it's for the betterment of the people.”

Jamaican government officials were reportedly made aware of what Mugabe stated but have yet to comment on the matter.

"Not even Kartel can stop mi seh Gaza" Popcaan

Top-flight deejay Popcaan, once believed to be one of incarcerated DJ Vybz Kartel’s loyal lieutenants, has spoken out about his Gaza status on Saturday night during his back-to-school treat at 3 West, Greater Portmore. Gaza fe life,” he said while expressing that not even Kartel can stop him from seh Gaza, confirming his stance in the Gaza movement. Rumours have been swirling recently that the relationship between Kartel and Popcaan had broken down. It was also reported recently that Kartel, while awaiting trial on multiple charges, ordered that the Portmore Empire be disbanded, and allegedly created a new group called PG-13, with new sensation Tommy Lee as a headliner. Popcaan, however, was not included. However, on Saturday night, while on stage, Popcaan gave kudos, to the self-proclaimed World Boss, as he said: “Big up to Kartel who played a major role in what Popcaan has become as an artiste today.”

Christopher "Dudus" Coke moved from Confinement

Former west Kingston strongman Christopher 'Dudus' Coke has finally been moved from solitary confinement in a United States (US) prison.  After spending more than two years in solitary confinement in New York, Coke has been moved to another prison, where he is now a part of the general population.
Coke, who has been sentenced to 23 years on drug and gun racketeering charges in the US, has been transferred from the Metropolitan Correctional Centre in Manhattan, New York, to the Federal Correctional Institution, Edgefield, in South Carolina.
A family member, Taneisha Kerr, told The Sunday Gleaner that Coke was moved a little over two weeks ago to the prison, which has a population of 1,700.
She said Coke called his grandmother - Joyce Madden - on the one-year anniversary of his mother Pauline Haliburton's death on August 22 and mourned.
"He said he felt it and he cried that he wasn't there to see her for the last or nothing," said Kerr.
His grandmother, Madden, an elderly but sharp-minded woman, said the call lasted for 15 minutes.
"He said he was all right and that they removed him and that he is trusting God. He also said he missed his family and Jamaica," Madden said in a slow drawl.
She added that Coke said he was happy that his days in solitary confinement have ended and that he is now among the general population.
During solitary confinement, he had contact with only prison officials.

Coke was also reportedly relieved that he now has more minutes to make calls.

According to his family, he is delighted with the 300 minutes per month which he now has as opposed to the one-time 15 minute call he could make each month while in solitary.

Kerr said that Coke now has a cellmate, who is an elderly man. He also complimented the prison facilities saying that it was clean.
She added that with the move, Coke now has access to the Internet.

Prison website

It is not clear why Coke was transferred as US officials do not comment on prison transfers. However, a search for Coke on the Edgefield's prison website revealed that he is listed as a 43-year-old black male with a release date of April 7, 2030.
His new home is a medium-security correctional facility for male inmates.

According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons' website, medium-security federal correctional institutes have strengthened perimeters (often double fences with electronic detection systems), mostly cell-type housing, a wide variety of work and treatment programmes, an even higher staff-to-inmate ratio than low-security prisons and even greater internal controls.
The facility is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons a division of the United States Department of Justice. The prison is located near the South Carolina-Georgia border approximately 25 miles north of Augusta Georgia.

Coke was extradited to the US in June 2010 after a protracted dispute between the then Bruce Golding-led government and the US. At the end of the dispute, the Government approved his extradition and the security forces moved to arrest him.
That resulted in a bloody battle that left at least 73 civilians and one soldier dead.
Coke was eventually captured near the St Andrew/St Catherine border and extradited after he waived his right to contest the proceeding.

Police killed a 25 year old Pregnant woman Yallahs St Thomas

A Pregnant 25-yr-old woman is now dead and her sister is now in Hospital after they were both shot by a Police Officer in Yallahs, St. Thomas earlier this evening. It is understood that a Police Officer overheard expletives coming from one of the women, while writing a speeding ticket for a motorist in the Yallahs Square. The officer warned the woman that she would be arrested and charged for the indecent language and then dragged the woman to the Station. A struggle ensued between the Officer and the Woman which resulted in her falling on the ground. Gaza and Tommy Lee Needs Serious Prayer

At least one member of the Christian community has declared that he has a problem with dancehall artiste Tommy Lee's song 'Uncle Demon'. According to Wayne Clarke of the Christian Fellowship World Outreach Church, the deejay is in urgent need of some serious prayer. "I have to go and do some serious prayer for him and the church needs to pray. I have never seen a man call himself demon upfront but God did dun prophecy that these things gonna happen," Clarke said. According to Clark, the entire Gaza fraternity is being influenced by demons. "I would pray for him (Tommy Lee) because he is under some powers like Kartel. God wants Kartel too, and he should repent and turn over totally to God. Gaza is under the influence of demons. A man referring himself as demons can be a serious thing but I can't blame him still because it's prophecy fulfilling," he said. However, Tommy Lee says Uncle Demon is just a song and he was simply being different from other artistes. "It just come natural, mi listen to the rhythm and mi get that vibe. A long time mi a sey uncle demon suh mi decide fi put it in a song. The music video was influenced by Michael Jackson's Thriller. (It was) a little bit scary but a lot of work we put into it. Mi just hope the youth dem nuh tek it too far because a nuh mi a di first person fi duh dat. Maybe I am the first in dancehall but not the first in the world. The youth dem watch duppy show all time, at the end of the day mi love the people, and mi just want dem fi can defend dem country," he continued. "The people dem run wid the song because dem did hungry fi a difference, mi just hope the big people dem understand because the youth dem understand. Mi love di youth dem mi just a duh my ting," he said. Tommy Lee also said he is not a devil worshipper and mentioned that man is more dangerous to each other than spirits. "At the end of the day I am not a devil worshipper. Mi believe inna di Creator who make Heaven and Earth. Everybody have dem fault and mi nah pree violence, mi only pree self defence. At the end of the day, nobody a nuh demon, it nuh mean nothing, it just sick. Yuh neva hear sey demon kill nobody and rob nobody suh it betta mi talk bout spirit than man," Tommy Lee said.

Ninja Man NOT Bad Just UGLY "Twins Of Twins"

Dancehall duo Twin of Twins are expressing discontent with Ninja Man's recent comments in which he challenged them to defend themselves against males instead of dissing Stacious.

According to member, Curly Locks, there is no credibility for Ninja Man because he is yet to defend himself against Merciless and Bounty Killer.

The Twins were referring to an interview with the veteran deejay that appeared in the last Saturday's STAR in which he pointed out that they were defeated in a lyrical clash with fellow deejay Tony Matterhorn.Ninja is also included in the intro for a song with Stacious where he verbally assaulted the Twins.

But according to the Twins; "Ninja Man really a talk bout lose clash? Him nuh get back him title from Merciless yet. How much time Bounty Killer slaughter him? All young artiste name History Man Kill yuh a Clarendon," Curly Lox said.

The twins also professed that Ninja Man is not the clash artiste who he proclaims himself to be. They claim the veteran only uses image to his advantage.

bad mind

"Ninja a you a diss comedy, when you whole life a joke? A just because yu ugly mek people believe seh you bad. Low Beenie Man cause nuh body nuh bad mind Shabba like yu. You haven't done quarter of what Beenie Man has done for dancehall. Your only hit song was Free Food Ticket. Nuh you fight Shabba an him overcome you bad mind an guh buss di world an lef yuh a Jamaica a duh one show a year?" Curly Lox further declared.

He further went on to class Ninja as old and miserable and someone who deserves pity.

"We understand Ninja Man's anguish, anybody wudda feel worthless fi get so old and nuh accomplish nothing. So we pity him for having to live in such a 'disillusional' state of mind where he overestimates his significance in the dancehall industry," he continued.

"People are always quick to talk about having respect for elders/veterans, wah should a happen wen veteran diss youth? As for your threats, please remember, ' Yuh old bone can't set," Curly Lox said.

no personal problems

In terms of Stacious, the duo said that they have no personal problems with her and expressed that she should have viewed their counteraction of her song in the same light in which she viewed her song Talk.

"We would like to clarify the fact that we don't have any ill-will towards her as we see her comments as just musical. We have also encouraged her that she should view our comments in the same light when we respond. Our song titled Weh Im Deh, which is a response to "ALL" critics wasn't done exclusively for this individual (Stacious)," he said.

He also refuted Ninja Man's claim that they were belittling female artistes.

"Any woman who wants to succeed will do so in any field, so long as they have the pride and common sense to safeguard their dignity and not fall prey to the short cuts offered by, mostly weak and ignoble men in control. Women with true talent and pride tend to make it despite the corruption; for example Etana, Tanya Stephens, Alaine, Tessanne Chin, and Queen Ifrica, just to name a few," he added.

Popcaan and Tommy Lee Are Opportunists Vybz Kartel Speaks

As if there wasn’t enough drama resulting from the recent dissolution of the Portmore Empire, now the group’s former leader has thrown more gasoline on the proverbial fire with a stern rebuking of his ex-protégés.

According to several reports, incarcerated Dancehall superstar and former Empire founder, Vybz Kartel released a damning statement against his former group mates on Thursday, insinuating that prominent protégés, Popcaan and Tommy Lee are no longer committed to the ‘Gaza’ cause, labeling both artistes as ‘opportunists.’

The statement was reportedly issued through ex-Empire singer, Vanessa ‘Gaza Slim’ Saddler, who sent said statement to Anthony Miller of TVJ’s Entertainment Report.

The alleged statement reads, "I just want u to let the people know that all a dem runnin’ aroun’ sayin’ ‘Gaza, Gaza’ are not real. Before I came here we were 'good.’ No animosity, but within a week of my arrest, they started giving other people managerial and booking positions. But where were these people when I was building their careers? When I was investing time and money to transform them from nobody to somebody? They are opportunists and fake. I'm not surprised because this is Dancehall and I have no problem with them making their money. But I jus’ don't want them to be all over the place exploiting a movement that I built with blood sweat and tears when they and I know they aren't real. I want them to stop. The only two loyal people are Slim and Sheba (the girls) and maybe it’s because they haven't fully realized their potential.”

This news comes several weeks after back and forth exchanges between Popcaan and former Empire singjay, Gaza Slim following a statement made by the former deejay address his status within the ‘Gaza’ as well as relationship with Vybz Kartel.

Furthermore, reports suggest that Vybz Kartel wanted a sizeable portion of Tommy Lee’s booking and publishing rights in an effort to exert more control over the Some Bwoy singer’s career while also implying that Popcaan owes ‘Di Teacha’ money in relation to bookings fees.

Kartel has publicly lashed out against former protégés before, doing so after ex-members like Black Ryno and Lisa Hyper left the Portmore Empire. The once dominant super group has also lost members such as Jahvinci, Kym Hamilton, co-founder, Deva Bratt and former Empire producer, Ainsley ‘Notnice’ Morris.

In a swift response to Kartel’s statement, Lisa Hyper disputed claims made by the self-professed ‘Worl’ Boss,’ intimating during an interview with one876entertainment.com that ‘Di Teacha’ should never take full credit for the growing ‘Gaza’ movement.

"Who is him fi talk bout loyalty? Him not even loyal to him (expletive) self. Him right fi say ah only dem two de, Sheba and Slim ah the most loyal to him because dem ah de two foolest people pon the Gaza, dem not even know what a split sheet is, dem nuh know nothing bout the business. Kartel caan stop nobody from say Gaza, Gaza belong to everybody now, this is a movement, Gaza mean fight for what you believe in and Kartel caan tek Gaza from nobody, Popcaan and Tommy Lee caan siddown and wait pon him fi come out, and further, Gaza belong to everybody, it bigger than Adidja Palmer, it bigga than me, it bigga than everybody who help start it. Mi breathe Gaza, mi bleed Gaza, Gaza for life," she said.

More details of this ongoing saga will emerge on TVJ’s Entertainment Report this Friday night featuring Kartel’s statement as well as reaction from the aforementioned Tommy Lee, who reportedly expresses his loyalty to the ‘Gaza’ in his interview with ER, despite his mentor’s comments.

VYBZ KARTEL NAMES SHEBA & GAZA SLIM AS THE REMAINING LOYALIST

Incarcerated Dancehall Superstar Vybz Kartel despite his legal woes his still having his say within the music industry even if bail isn’t an option.

Though his troubles, he his still as controversial as ever and is one of, if not the biggest artiste locally. The entertainer who molded and championed the infamous group Portmore Empire / Gaza had protojes such as Blak Ryno, Jah Vinchi, Lisa Hyper amongst others that paved the way for Gaza Slim, Sheba, Popcaan & Tommy Lee after their departure or being disbanded.

Now the group which has always managed to deliver hits has always been the center of some controversy but its in recent times with Kartel scraping the group from behind bars & rumors of Popcaan selling out that was the highlight and showed the new direction of Kartel with a new group emerging called PG 13 with Tommy Lee & Gaza Slim named as members.

According to a highly place source its alleged that, Vybz Kartel has stated that both Tommy Lee & Popcaan is no longer loyal to him or the Gaza/PG 13. In an alleged statement issued by him he labels the two as opportunist.

In addition he names SHEBA & GAZA SLIM as the only two artiste who has remain steadfast & resolute. He endorses them as the two that will hold the Gaza fort till he returns.

Its also alleged that Vybz Kartel reasons for dropping Popcaan is due his demand for fees of $1,000,000JMD which the artiste didn’t pay in full & now Tommy Lee which is the latest artiste to not have his blessing, is due his demand for 30% Booking Fee which the artiste camp wouldn’t allow.

The story which will be exclusive on Entertainment Report this Friday will make note of the alleged statement issued by Vybz Kartel and Tommy Lee’s reactions to it.
Stay Tuned for further updates.

"No Yaad Swag. The people say Street Vybz Rum" Corey Todd

After months off local shelves, the Street Vybz Rum brand has been officially re-introduced to the Jamaican market following a truce struck between the product’s high profile creators.
Prominent American businessman, Corey Todd and embattled Dancehall superstar, Vybz Kartel recently announced the restoration of their business partnership after a very public falling out that took place in May of last year.
With their resolution came the announcement that Kartel and Todd would bring back to popular Street Vybz Rum brand that initially debuted in 2009.
According to Todd, the overwhelming demand for Street Vybz Rum became too difficult to ignore, thus prompting he and Kartel to once again supply the liquor brand. Despite Street Vybz being off the market for several months, Todd believes that the product will once again find favor with customers while intimating that new flavors will be added to diversify the brand.

“Nothing needs to be different about Street Vybz rum. The fans of Vybz Kartel loved it just the way it was. It was the rum that changed the rum market in Jamaica for dancehall patrons. We made rum cool and no longer for rum heads. No one can take that accomplishment from us. The only thing is that we will now explore the export opportunities that were passed on because of the split, so Street Vybz will become an international brand shortly," Todd told the Jamaica STAR.

"Right now all the major wholesales have placed their orders so fans can check every Chiney man.”

However, a stumbling block does exist regarding the marketing of Street Vybz Rum as Vybz Kartel remains incarcerated while awaiting trial in a pair of murder cases later this year. But, according to Todd, some of Kartel’s esteemed protégés will help to promote Street Vybz until its focal point cops freedom.

"The name of the rum is Street 'Vybz', so 'Vybz' Kartel will always be the face of the product. Other artistes in the Gaza will hold some of the weight until he returns. Tommy Lee is the hottest 'un-incarcerated' artiste right now so he's a very appropriate representative for the product," Todd said.

While Street Vybz Rum was shelved, Todd had been promoting Yaad Swag, a rum brand that he created while using artistes such as Beenie Man, Khago and Aidonia to market the product.
However, with Street Vybz returning, Todd stated that his Yaad Swag project has been discontinued.

“No Yaad Swag. The people say Street Vybz rum.”

Dancehall Icon Ninja Man Defends Stacious

Dancehall icon Ninja Man has come out in defense of female artiste Stacious after she was lyrically attacked by dancehall artistes Twin of Twins in a recent recording.

The female deejay was strongly chastised by the twins after she had previously made comments in her single Talk that Tony Matterhorn defeated them at Sting 2011 and they blamed it on liquor.

According to Ninja Man, Twin of Twins should direct their energy towards defending their honour at this year’s staging of Sting instead of picking on females.

“Dem fi guh look war wid man and stop pick pon female artiste. Tony Matterhorn is a selector and him kill dem suh dem fi guh kill him back and get back dem career and stop fight woman. If dem nuh have nothing betta fi duh dem can guh clash wid some comedian then,” Ninja Man said.

The veteran deejay said that females are marginalised in the dancehall and should get more support from the males instead of being targeted negatively.

“We need more strong women in the dancehall and wi nuh waah nuh more man a try push dem over. Mi defend woman at all levels. Me same one did defend Spice when dem did box har. If yu diss Spice mi a guh defend it, if yu diss D’Angel mi a guh defend it, suh when di woman dem a try mek something positive with dem life and dem career, don’t belittle them,” Ninja Man said.

The artiste also said he himself would not challenge Twins of Twins in a lyrical battle as they are not on his level.

“If dem flip up mi just send Predator or General Trees guh deal wid dem mek dem know sey fi be careful and leave the woman dem alone. Mi nuh clash wid likkle deejay,” he said.

Ninja Man also issued a warning for self-proclaimed King of the dancehall, Beenie Man.

“Beenie Man need fi give a world-wide apology to Shabba Ranks else him haffi guh deal wid mi. Mi a guh tek the crown offa him head and give it back to King Yellow Man and tek back the Doctor from him and give it back to Early B. Yellow Man is the king of dancehall, none of the accolades wey Beenie Man have di people dem neva give it to him,” Ninja Man said.

In response to the Twins verbal assault in their song, Stacious said their negative response was unexpected. According to the female deejay, they heard the song in its early stages and said it was good.
“I didn’t expect that the Twins would find it insulting because they heard the song at a stage show and they said it was bad, so hearing their response and the degrading way in which it was done was very strange,” she said.

Following the Twins’ song, Stacious has also recorded a song unleashing her own form of assault back at them. The song has an introduction that features Ninja Man.

“Ninja is an icon and war and clash is his thing. He is the best at that. I called him and told him about the situation. when he heard the song, he went straight to the booth and spoke his mind in one track,” she said.

The STAR was unsuccessful in getting a comment from Twin of Twins despite several attempts.

Stacious has also recently recorded new singles such as Ecstasy and Wine Up Mi Body. While the Twins released a new single called Lie Song.

Rio Brazil way behind for Olympics 2016

BRAZIL is already losing the race to live up to London’s Olympics, exclusive Sun pictures reveal.

With less than four years to go until the Games move to Rio in 2016, not a brick has been laid at venues
The tatty old racing track on the left is supposed to host 20 events — but it remains a grassy, overgrown wreck amid a wrangle over the EVICTIONS of 4,000 people living nearby.

Work on another venue at the site of an old army training ground has stalled after the discovery of live LANDMINES.

And developers and officials fear DEADLINES for completing work are getting so tight they face running out of time.

Now Rio must act like the wiggling, shimmying girls at its Carnival — and get moving.
Brazil’s president Dilma Rousseff has vowed the Games will be “even better” than London’s.

But IOC member Nawal El Moutawakel warned: “There is a large volume of works that need to be started now.”

The Nelson Piquet Racetrack in the Barra district is supposed to have an aquatics centre, velodrome and facilities for other events. But there is no sign of any — nor of the athletes’ village next door.
At Deodoro, 15 miles away, work on a park for events
such as shooting, kayaking and BMX has been stopped while the area is swept for military explosives.

By contrast in East London in 2008, foundations had been laid for the showpiece stadium plus other buildings in the complex.

More than 230 other projects including new expressways are planned in Rio but only 65 are anywhere near on target.Rio organising chief Leonardo Gryrner insisted the work would get done — though he admitted: “Time is an adversary. We’ll get a few cold sweats.”

Lutan Fyah Targeted By Scammers

Reggae singer Lutan Fyah says that he has been scammed by someone who was pretending to be him and defrauding producers from all over the world.

"Him a use my page and talk to them as if a me dem a talk to. Mi go pon tour a Sweden, Finland, Africa, Argentina, Germany, Florida, New York, Poland and California and each time I visit the countries, a different producer has been contacting me saying that I took their money for songs," Lutan Fyah told THE STAR.

The artiste believes that his name was being used to scam people for sometime now.
"Everywhere I go in the world, people a link me for dem money, and I don't have any idea what they are talking about. Right now I have a lot of Whatsapp messages and emails from producers saying I should refund their money," an angry Lutan Fyah said.

Because of this, Lutan Fyah says he has had to shut down his Facebook and Twitter pages.

"Usain Bolt can’t pole vault, he can’t throw anything" Bruce Jenner

Olympian Bruce Jenner has some words for Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, a six-time gold medalist sprinter between the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics.

Bolt recently updated his Twitter bio to read “the greatest athlete of all time.” He has since changed it to, “The most naturally gifted athlete the world has ever seen.” Jenner, who won gold in the decathlon at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, says that the “greatest of all time” title is not necessarily the case.

“He’s the best sprinter,” Jenner tells Media. But adds, “He can’t pole vault, he can’t throw anything … that’s an athlete.” And Jenner makes it clear that decathletes are the “most athletic” and that Bolt “would be terrible” at the decathlon.

The decathlon is made up of 10 different track and field events — 100m sprint, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400m sprint, 110m hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and a 1500m run. The gold and silver medals at the 2012 London Games went to U.S. athletes Ashton Eaton and Trey Hardee, who ran their 100m sprints in 10.35 and 10.42, respectively. Those times would not have gotten them out of the preliminaries of the 100m event at the games this year, but they still aren’t bad.

[PHOTO]Lauryn Hill Faces 3 years behind bars

Lauryn Hill faces three years behind bars after admitting she failed to file tax returns between 2005 and 2007, during which time she earned $1.8 million, and her mugshot was released today.
The solemn 37-year-old is seen in the picture wearing the same white blouse she donned on June 29 after pleading guilty to the three-count misdemeanor filed in U.S. District Court in Newark, New Jersey.

The eight-time Grammy-winner, currently free on a $150,000 unsecured bond, is scheduled to be sentenced on November 27.

And as there is nothing more certain than death and taxrs, her attorney Nathan Hochman said Hill planned to pay back the $818,000 from 2005,$222,000 fro, 2006 and $761,000 from 2007.

The troubled singer-rapper, who first gained fame and millions of dollars as the lead singer of The Fugees, also faces $75,000 in fines.

In a lengthy post on her Tumblr page earlier in June she responded to the charges, claiming she wanted to leave mainstream society in protest against its 'climate of hostility, false entitlement, manipulation, racial prejudice, sexism and ageism.'
Lauryn said: 'My intention has always been to get this situation rectified. When I was working consistently without being affected by the interferences mentioned above, I filed and paid my taxes
'This only stopped when it was necessary to withdraw from society, in order to guarantee the safety and well-being of myself and my family.'
It's ironic that Hill cites the safety and well-being of her family as a reason she failed to pay up as little Zion, 15, Selah, 13, Joshua, 10, John, 9, Sarah, 4, and one-year-old Micah will surely suffer if their mother toils in jail.

Usain Bolt Claims He's Lost All Respect For Carl Lewis

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt says he had lost all respect for Carl Lewis after the former American athlete was quoted as saying Jamaica's doping controls were not as strong as other countries.

Lewis, a former 100 and 200 Olympic champion, has repeatedly stated that Jamaica’s drug testing procedures might need to be tightened.

Bolt made the comments at a press conference after he roared to an unprecedented second 200-metre title yesterday at the London 2012 Olympics.

No other athlete has won the 200-metre dash twice at the Olympics.

Lewis won the event in 1984 and finished second in the 1988 Games.

Bolt was asked if he would like to be compared with Lewis or the late sprinting great Jesse Owens.

Bolt says he has no respect for Lewis because of the "degrading" remarks he made about athletes.

"I think Carl Lewis is just looking for attention, really, because nobody really talks much about him," Bolt said.

Bolt was also asked if he could guarantee that Jamaican sprinters - who swept the top three spots in the 200 metres - were clean, and he said he had no doubt.

"Without a doubt, we train really hard," said the double Olympic repeat champion

Asafa Powell hits back at critics following Olympic performance

Despite the unprecedented success of our growing sprint legends during these Olympic games in London, it appears that the failure of another Jamaican athlete has somewhat overshadowed the achievements accomplished by the island’s track stars in recent days.

Former world-record holding sprinter, Asafa Powell has taken loads of criticism from fans after pulling up during the highly anticipated 100m final on Sunday. Despite the fact that fellow sprint superstars, Usain Bolt and Yohan Blake won gold and silver in the event respectively, giving Jamaica 1-2 in an Olympic 100m final for the second straight summer games, most of the talk surrounded Powell and his unfortunate set of circumstances during the final, when he injured his groin and finished last in the event.

Since Sunday’s race, much ire has been directed towards Powell, with many fans expressing their frustration on social media; pointing to his past shortcomings in major events as they lashed out against the man who was once branded ‘Afasa.’ Some fans later speculated that Powell faked the injury while others insisted that he’s chock full of excuses.

Once comment read, "Nothing is wrong with people being themselves but to create constant excuses is not a good thing for anyone. I think in Jamaica we have something called the Asafa syndrome, this is when someone gives a lot of excuses for failing instead of just accepting that you have failed."
However, Powell shot back at his critics on Monday night, intimating that he cannot control fate while advising detractors not to attack his loyal fans.

Powell commented on his official Facebook page, “I ask one thing of all the persons who are making negative remarks about me. I can understand that and appreciate the fact that you expected me to medal, however I have zero control over destiny. I do ask one thing though please do not come on my page and disrespect my loyal and genuine fans who support my cause and justify my existence. Enjoy the rest of the day. One Love 4Life!”

Several teammates have offered words of encouragement Powell following his injury, with Usain Bolt tweeting, “Hope u get well soon. You started this Jamaican take over.”
Asafa Powell will not be able to participate in the 4 by 100m relays for Jamaica this weekend and has undergone an MRI which revealed new damage to his adductor muscles as well as scar tissue from an old injury.

Bruce Golding says Dudus betrayed him

FORMER PRIME Minister Bruce Golding said he felt betrayed by Tivoli Gardens gangster Christopher 'Dudus' Coke.

Golding, in an interview published in American newspaper, The New Yorker, said that as the member of parliament for West Kingston, it was difficult to manage the relationship with Coke.

"In December of 2007, I received information that there were persons the police were seeking ... who were hiding in West Kingston ... . Now, Coke had sufficient influence that these persons were not likely to be in Tivoli Gardens without his knowledge.

"And, I sent an emissary to him with very clear words that if these persons are being harboured in the community, it would put the entire community at risk, because, if the security forces were to enter the community in search of these persons, there is the possibility of confrontation and there is the possibility of innocent people being killed.

"The message I got back from him was, 'No, there is no such person being harboured in West Kingston.' The police conducted an operation sometime afterward, and in that operation, I think, some of the persons were found, some of the persons were seen, some of them escaped.

"I felt betrayed, because I was seeking to protect the residents, and it seemed to me that he was seeking to protect these criminals who came from outside. And because of that ... I basically cut him off, I basically said, 'I will have nothing to do with him and his operation, because, if I cannot secure compliance on a simple matter that is intended to protect the citizens of the community, then I would have nothing to do with him.'

Blake confident of Olympic glory

World 100m champion Yohan Blake says he is confident of his chances to win both the 100m and 200m here at the Olympic Games in London.
Blake, while speaking at a press conference hosted by his shoe sponsor Adidas, inside the Westfield Mall in London a short while ago, also underlined that his focus is not centred on beating his Racers Track Club training partner and defending champion Usain Bolt, but to execute his own race once at the line and bring home the gold at his first Olympic Games.

"The focus is never to beat Usain Bolt, it's all about going to the line and executing the race, doing all that you have learned in training,” said Blake.

"Usain and I remain very good friends but when we get on the track it's all about business.”

Blake, who was handed a pair of ‘The Beast’ branded adiZero Prime SP spikes – the lightest spike on the market, also said that he does not expect that being the youngest and most inexperienced sprinter among the favourites will have any impact on the end result.

“Inexperience, a lot of people talk about that but it does not matter to me,” Blake said.

“I have worked hard all year and it will cone down to who execute the better race on the day.”

"I feel like I've always been Rastafarian" Snoop Dogg

Snoop Dogg wants you to know that he's tired of hip-hop, is Bob Marley reincarnated and is embracing reggae instead of the culture of guns he once rapped about. Also, he's got a new name: Snoop Lion.

The artist said at a news conference Monday in New York that he was "born again" during a visit to Jamaica in February and is ready to make music that his "kids and grandparents can listen to."
The former gangster rapper is releasing a reggae album called Reincarnated in the autumn. He said that in Jamaica, he connected with Bob Marley's spirit and is now "Bob Marley reincarnated."

Bob Marley's son Rohan attended the conference and gave Snoop his blessing.

"I feel like I've always been Rastafarian," Snoop said of the spiritual Jamaican movement. While there, he said, he visited a temple, was renamed Snoop Lion and was also given the Ethiopian name Berhane, meaning "light of the world."

Snoop didn't explain why he was switching from "Dogg" to "Lion," but it's likely a reference to the Lion of Judah, a religious symbol popular in Rastafarian and Ethiopian culture.

Later, he played five songs for a small crowd, including one called "No Guns Allowed." It features his daughter and includes the lyrics, "No guns allowed in here tonight, we're going to have a free for all, no fights."

"It's so tragic that people are doing stupid things with guns," he said.

Snoop, best known for hits like "Gin and Juice" and "Drop It Like It's Hot," is an avid supporter of marijuana rights and has been banned from entering Norway for two years after trying to enter the country with a small amount last month.

He said that in Jamaica, where he stayed for 35 days, he grew closer to his wife, who saw his transition. He added that he's excited to perform music that his family and children can listen to.

"As a 40-year-old man ... I've got to give them something," he said. "That's what you do when you're wise."

Snoop Dogg said he's not completely retiring from hip-hop but is "tired" of the genre because it is no longer challenging.

"Reggae was calling ... it's a breath of fresh air," he said. "Rap isn't challenging; it's not appealing."

The album was produced by Diplo and will feature Snoop singing. It will be released on Vice Records.

The album will be followed with a documentary of the same name, also produced by Vice. It features Snoop making music and will include some personal elements of his life, a producer of the film said. It will debut at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

A coffee table book about Snoop's rebirth is also in the works.

"It feels like I'm 19 or 20 years old again," he said.

Lloyd B. Smith renews call for J'can Creole to have language designation

DEPUTY SPEAKER of the House of Representatives Lloyd B. Smith wants the Jamaican Creole to be formally designated as an official language.
Smith, a former English teacher, made the call recently while delivering the main address to launch the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission's Hanover Jamaica 50 celebration, at the Global Villa, Lucea.

"We need to declare once and for all that the Patois is one of our languages. Now, don't get me wrong, I am in total support of what the minister of education said, every Jamaican ought to be able to speak the English language. My problem is that there is still ingrained in many of our people the fact that when you speak Patois , it makes you an inferior human being."
Smith said, while Jamaica celebrates 50 years of Independence, the people should not forget who they are, and celebratory activities should seek to reflect our rich African heritage.

Honouring our heritage
"We need to officially put on the map that we have our own language - just like how we have the reggae and the mento, and wi 'dip and fall back', we have our own language, and we need to 'officialise it', while at the same time we extol the virtues of the English language."

Smith highlighted reggae icon Bob Marley whom he said spoke Patois even while doing his international interviews.

"He spoke the common language of the Jamaican people. We need to regularise and formalise it so that, as of this year, no Jamaican will feel inferior if he or she on the occasion that is necessary speaks Patois. We need to get over that once and for all, because it is part and parcel of an inferiority complex that is so pervasive in this society where the average Jamaica still feels that he or she is not, as Rex Nettleford would say, 'sumady'."

Jamaicans give Jamaican Athletes a Warm Welcome in Birmingham

Jamaicans and Jamaican flags at every turn, island music and familiar food have ensured that Jamaica's pre-Olympic training camp in Birmingham is feeling a little bit like home.

In fact, during a press conference at the University of Birmingham yesterday afternoon, Jamaica's male team captain Michael Frater described the West Midlands city as 'Little Jamaica' and thanked the locals for their reception.

However, the 2005 IAAF World Championships 100m silver medallist believes the Jamaicans are in line for even greater advantages when they move south to London tomorrow to compete in the Olympic Games, which start a day later, given the even larger Jamaican influence in the England capital.

"London 2012, this Olympic Games is special because of the support that we will be getting there," said Frater, who was speaking during a press conference staged at the team's training base at the university's Munrow Sports Centre.

"We have a large number of fans and supporters in London and a lot of Jamaicans live there. In fact, it's the closest the Olympics have come to Jamaica itself," Frater added. "It's almost like we will be on home turf, the support has been awesome here in Birmingham and we expect nothing less when we get to London."
He said: "A few of us have been out on the road, most of us have been out in Birmingham city, we have enjoyed the sites, we have been to the mall, the Bullring, and some of us have been to the movies, enjoying the sites."

The Jamaicans are certainly the most popular team at the Olympics as is evident in the massive media and public interest around the team and its stars.
Hundreds of fans from all over the country and media representatives from all corners of the globe descended on the university's campus for the team's 'Open Day' yesterday and female captain Novlene Williams-Mills was extremely pleased with the reception that the team has received in the city.
"It's been a great experience for all of us. I just arrived the other day but I can say that the facilities are excellent. For me, this is excellent," said Williams-Mills.

"We are hoping just to come out and put on a good show for everyone that when this Olympics is finished we want everyone to talk about what Team Jamaica did at these games," Williams-Mills added.
The Jamaicans will head into the Athletes' Village in London tomorrow.

Beenie Man Badmind Shabba "Ninja Man"

Dancehall icon Ninja Man is speaking out against what he believes to be 'bad-mind' on the part of a dancehall superstar.

According to Ninja Man, Beenie Man is jealous of Shabba Ranks' success.
Ninja Man's comments comes after a television interview where Beenie Man was asked if anybody else could get the massive turnout that greeted Shabba at the airport.

Beenie Man replied "of course, anybody can get that, you haffi just pay for it."
Ninja Man believes that this comment shows that Beenie Man is jealous of Shabba.

"A me buss Shabba, so from you dis Shabba, you dis me. Shabba do work whe nuff artiste never do yet. Him leave Jamaica and give di artiste dem space fi make money. Beenie Man a talk bout how a buy di man buy him motorcade when him come a Jamaica, Beenie Man you badmind Shabba. You too bad-mind," Ninja Man told THE STAR.
Ninja Man went on to say that only certain individuals in Jamaica could have a motorcade similar to the one Shabba received.
The individuals he named include himself, Usain Bolt, Haile Selassie and a few others.
"Shabba motorcade full airport. Shabba a me artiste, any man whe violate Shabba, violate me. Beenie Man tek way the 'King of the Dancehall' title from Yellow Man and sound like him waan tek wey the 'Dancehall Emperor' title from Shabba Ranks,' Ninja Man said.
When contacted, Beenie Man stated that his words were taken out of context.
According to him, he was not implying that Shabba had paid for the motorcade.
"I was saying that to do a motorcade costs money because you have to pay for transportation to take persons to the location and back home. It takes money to organise that. I was not saying that people were paid to go see Shabba," Beenie Man said.
Beenie went on to say that there was no reason for him to bad-mind Shabba.
"Me? Bad-mind Shabba? Bad-mind Shabba fi wha? Ninja Man has his own opinions. People with good mind and good thoughts would never think of me like that," Beenie Man told THE STAR.
Ninja Man, however, seems to have already geared up for lyrical battle with 'the Doctor' as he warned, "Beenie Man don't play wid Shabba. Him nuh drop him ting, anyting him get him deserve. Give the man him glory. If you waan start the lyrical war, then start it. Me bad like 10 duppy, a long time mi nuh kill no artiste lyrically."

2012 (Official Details) Usain Bolt: I’m Not a Track Legend Unless I Rule At London Olympics

He took Olympic gold in 2008 over 100 metres, 200m and in the 4 x 100m relay, all in world-record times.

But Bolt — under pressure from fellow Jamaican Yohan Blake in an injury-plagued 2012 build-up — insisted:
"Winning an Olympics once is not the mark of a great athlete."

“Anyone can win one. You have to do it again if you are to stand out from the crowd.”

Bolt followed his Beijing triumph by breaking the 100m and 200m records again at the World Championships in Berlin in 2009.

But Blake won the 100m at the last Worlds in Korea — after Bolt was disqualified — and then beat the great man over 100m and 200m at the Jamaican trials.

There have been worries about Bolt’s fitness in the wake of those defeats with his back and hamstring troubles flaring up again.

But his agent Ricky Simms insists that is all sorted and his man is “good to go”.

Bolt, though, may never run an Olympic 100m or 200m again after London.
While he is committed to taking part in the 2016 Olympics in Brazil he is thinking of other disciplines.

His coach Glen Mills has tried to persuade his student to switch to 400m.
Bolt has also dabbled with the long jump with leaps into the pit at his Racers Track Club in Kingston.

He admitted: “I might do the 400m and the long jump in Brazil which finishes on my 30th birthday.
“Then I will have one more season and that will be it.
“I won’t be running by the time I’m 32 — you could offer me 50 million dollars and I wouldn’t do it.”

Bolt has ambitions beyond athletics. He claims he wants to play professional football and that his favourite team, Manchester United, should sign him up.
He said with a glint in his eye: “Alex Ferguson hasn’t seen me play, so you never know. There will be no one faster than me at the club — that’s for sure.”

Away from sport he wants a family and eventually to settle down but children will come before marriage.

He said: “I want to get married some day but that will be after I retire from track and field, not before.
“I do want children though, sometime after the next Olympics.”

But he is worried a son will be thrust into the limelight.
He said: “From the moment he can stand he will be expected to run to the shop quicker than anyone else in the village.
“I’d prefer him to do another sport — maybe he will be the footballer.”

Potential Kidd Accused of Scamming American Promoter

Fast-rising Dancehall star, Potential Kidd could soon be facing his own share of legal woes as the deejay stand accused by an American promoter of stealing money.

Dwayne ‘Garry Dreamaz’ Grant, a New Jersey based promoter insists that Potential Kidd, his booking agent and manager scammed multiple event planners in the United States for large sums of money. Reportedly, promoters have substantial evidence of these alleged scams; showing signed contracts and receipts that were sent to members of Potential Kidd’s team despite the fact that the A Yah So Nice deejay could not travel to the United States, while also revealing that the artiste never informed them of his inability to fly to the North American country.

Grant intimated that he had dialogue with Potential Kidd and his team since April when he secured the deejay’s services for shows on July 13 and 14 in New York and New Jersey respectively where they agreed on a sum of US$6,300 for both shows.

In a press release, Grant stated that “Back in April, I was introduced to Theresa Small of Terri Booking Agency by a friend. As to what I was told, she is the booking agency for Dwayne Taylor aka Potential Kid. I spoke to Theresa back in April and she told me nothing is guarantee until a deposit was made.”

“After I sent the money, Theresa introduced me to Angeletta who is Dwayne Taylor’s manager. I spoke to her and she asked me about the deposit, so I told her I sent the money to Theresa… Two months later Jason and I sent another US$600 to put towards airfare. My date [for the show] was July 14, 2012 but five days before I was told he did not have a visa for the USA, I was told he will be going to immigration but to my understanding, he did not go. Even up to the day before the events on Friday and Saturday, Potential Kid had not yet made an appearance at immigration to obtain a visa and work permit.”

According to reports, two other promoters fell victim to this alleged scam; one of them being Ageable Jason of Boomerang Promotions, who intimated that he went through a similar process with Potential Kidd.

Basically, we send the money for Potential Kid for a date on July 13 to perform at a venue in the Bronx named Best Party Place aka Social Gathering Palace. After we sent all the money I was supposed to then wait for a while for a commercial when the artist supposed to be in New York July 6, because he supposed to perform on the 7th in Mount Vernon. So after I found out he wasn't coming for the 6th, I was informed that he didn't get his work permit as yet but I was guaranteed by his manager that he will get it for the show on the 13th in New York and the 14th in New Jersey. So as days go by, we keep getting put off. ‘Tomorrow, tomorrow’ we will get the latest news. So finally Wednesday into Thursday, after we spend up all our money to go on the road, to promote on radio stations, paying people to promote, rent club, etc. we found out that he wasn't coming because he don't have a visa and etc.” he said.

As a result, Grant insists that he intends to sue Potential Kidd and his team for their alleged actions. Furthermore, he revealed that Potential Kidd’s manager, Angeletta called him on July 17, claiming that she will refund the money but that it will take some time due to the fact that the deejay is broke.
Grant later spoke to Potential Kidd, who vehemently denied the allegations, insisting that his manager lied and that she stole the promoter’s money.

Nevertheless, Grant insists that he’s pursuing legal action against Potential Kidd and his team not just because of money, but due to principle as he feels that it’s unfair for this happen to so many promoters. According to Grant, with the help of Jamaican PR agent, Lesley Hayles who helped parlay his story as well as a prominent entertainment lawyer that’s he’s hired, he will retrieve all that has been stolen from him.

New J.O.E album unveiled a year following death

Over a year following the untimely demise of one of Jamaican music's most promising acts, a new album has surfaced which pays homage to his work while showing the mainstream more of his undeniable potential.

J.O.E (Jah Over Evil), formerly known as Lil' Joe, had high hopes within the Jamaican music industry; releasing notable singles such as Nah Nuh Mercy, Not Good At All and Rasta Chant which was produced by T.O.K member, Roshaun ‘Bay-C’ Clarke. However, just as his career seem poised for takeoff, J.O.E died of a brain aneurysm in February of last year at the tender age of 24.
At the time, the artiste whose real name was Alty Nunes had been working on his debut album, Man From Judah which he never had the chance to complete. However, with the help of family and friends within the music industry, that album has been finished and will be released posthumously to honor his life's work.

Man From Judah will be launched at the Funky Monkey Bistro and Bar on Holborn Road in St Andrew on Saturday evening. July 14, 2012 would have marked J.O.E's 26th birthday.

J.O.E's long-time producer and friend, Gavin 'Equiknoxx' Blair revealed that Man of Judah was completed due to the co-operation of some high-profile names, including Konshens, Kymani Marley and T.O.K, who feature on the 17-track compilation. Konshens features on the single, Fit while Marley appears on the single, Introduce. T.O.K's Bay-C offers the track, Vineyard Town, which hails as a tribute to J.O.E's home community.

Most of the tracks on Man of Judah were recorded in Vineyard Town while some were done at the Anchor Music studio, founded by prominent Reggae producer, Gussie Clarke, who worked with J.O.E during the earlier days of his career.

According to Blair, J.O.E's music became more spiritual during the last three years of his life as he sought to add meaning to his content. Additionally, Blair insists that he's pleased by the outcome of Man of Judah, which offers a live feel with several veteran musicians playing scintillating instrumentals.

Man of Judah will soon be in stores and is currently available for purchase on iTunes
J.O.E hails as the song of former National Dance Theatre Company dancer and renowned teacher, Patsy Ricketts.

Kartel Wanted by God to do the Lords Work

A Christian man claims that since 2009 he has been 'God sent' to deliver a rather important message to Vybz Kartel. Three years later, he is resolute to complete that mission.

"The time has come... I think the time is right, whenever God give you a task to warn or enlighten you should. Just like Jonah was sent to warn the city of Ninivi and he was disobedient and he was later eaten by a whale!" reasoned 36-year-old Wayne Clarke, who has been saved for the past 15 years.

Clarke, who speaks highly of his membership at the Christian Fellowship World Outreach Church of God Ministry, located in the Corporate Area, told THE STAR that Kartel is wanted badly by God, to do the Lord's work.

"God wants Kartel to do very important works for him. It hurt me so much that I lived so close to where his studio was and reasons beyond my control prevented me from delivering the message directly," said Clarke.

He explained that one such reason was his fear of the entourage often found in Kartel's company. He said he was mindful that his message may not go down well with those around the deejay and they might react in a not too peaceful way.

Clarke said he is now ready, more than ever, to enlighten the 'Worl' Boss'. He is adamant that if this was done in 2009 when he was ordained by the Holy Ghost, Kartel would not have been in his present legal woes.

Clarke said Kartel is being recruited to preach and to heal people. "He must not carry anything that he achieved from the world (money or vanity), he must leave those things and come. He will be set up properly by God," expressed a soft-toned Clarke.

Though it did materialise, two years ago an evangelist was demanding a musical clash with Vybz Kartel at Sting.

"I want Laing to organise that clash, because Mr Vybz Kartel has been leading the generation astray for too long and we have to stop him. He is deceiving them," said the evangelist then. "We need to trample Vybz Kartel, we're fed up of him now. Other pastors and I sit down and we listen to his songs, he is the one, there is a great force behind him."

"How Dem Ugly So" is the question MANY are asking in regards to the Jamaican Athletes Outfits for the Olympics Opening Ceremony. Although many may be asking why Cedella Marley couldnt design something a bit more tastefull theres actually a deeper meaning to the outfits that what meets the eye.

Puma had asked Cedella Marley, yes, daughter of the late Bob Marley to design the uniforms for Jamaica's 2012 Olympics team. The collection features military-inspired jackets that her dad favored along with bold hues of gold, black and green like the Caribbean country's flag and African influences.
“We took the fit of what my dad would wear and updated it to 2012,” Marley said. "You have the Iron Lion military jacket, the Buffalo Soldier shirt. I tried to incorporate the Bob Marley fit in as many pieces as possible where we were able to accommodate that."

Not only do the jackets have a patch with Bob Marley's face on the sleeve, but the words "Positive Vibration," one of his song titles, is on the inside of the collar.

"You did see dad on the jacket, right? So that's a little piece of him that's going to be in London," Marley says.

She also added the face of Jamaica's first Olympic champion, Arthur Wint, onto the uniforms, which were modeled by current track champ Usain Bolt.

"I can’t think of a better person to design our Olympic outfits than Cedella," Bolt says. "PUMA got that right…hooking up with a legendary Jamaican. She’s a great designer but also carries on the spirit of our nation through the legacy of the Marley family. It’s going to be inspirational to run in London with that energy surrounding me."

Well at least the Jamaican uniform looks better than the USA team Uniform, (dem look like dem inna di navy)

Should Kartel be Compared to Malcom X

Should Kartel be compared to the great Malcom X?

Kartel's new book,"Voice of the Jamaican Ghetto" its either your going to love it our hate it, but it seems like many alongside Producer Justus despise the book and the concept behind it.

This morning the creator of the Overproof Riddim, did a good hour and a half worth of venting about the book. According to him Kartel shouldn't be compared to the great Malcom X as its a "Mockery".

But as we all know Vybz Kartel is a man of controversy, so a front cover like his, is something that many should have been expected.

Justus Tweets-

"Kartel is the complete opposite of Malcolm x how fuckin dumb are you?"

"Addi is a bleacher. And u compare him to Malcolm x?? Are you fucking kidding? How many crack ball u smoke to reach there?"

But it looks like its not just the front cover the producer has an issue with, as he later tweeted :
"Sending a big fuck you to the entire gaza!"

I wonder who will be the next Produce/Artiste/DJ will be next to speak out on Kartels Book??

In the mean time share your views and thoughts of the book on twitter via @missdainty1

Should Vybz Kartel be Compared as Malcom X ???

Kartel tells all in new book

The chapter 'Where Is The Love For The Black Child?' is tipped by Michael Dawson, co-author of Vybz Kartel's The Voice Of The Jamaican Ghetto, to make a shocking, interesting read, as the extreme 'hate him or love him' entertainer will explain why he 'bleaches'.
Since the announcement of the book that would highlight the 'isms and schisms' in today's Jamaica, there have been a lot of mixed reactions from the public.

The words 'Incarcerated but not Silenced' is printed on the front cover.
Adidja 'Vybz Kartel' Palmer has been in custody since October last year and has since been slapped with several charges. His voice will now be heard as he asks, "50 years of what for poor people?" among other questions.

Dawson told The STAR about the book's main topic saying, "The prominent theme is the ghetto experience from someone who has a voice, from someone who has lived there. The theme is why our life is as tough as it is, why we suffer the way we do. It also has an educational value as it explains a lot about the history of Jamaica and probably how the circumstances that we have today ended up this way."

He went on to say that every word of the book is based on songs from the incarcerated deejay and is an explanation of or expansion on the songs.
The book was developed, he said, through discussions between himself and Vybz Kartel about what those songs meant.

For him, the book mums the popular belief of many about Vybz Kartel having the power to influence society, but not using it for anything good or positive.
Another plus, he said, is that "for the first time one from the genre (dancehall) has said I'm going to stay in Jamaica and I'm going to do it this way."
Dawson has lived a life in contrast to that of Kartel. He was a Campionite and later attended the University of Miami. With that, the book makes him happy to see that someone from 'his side' has stepped up with Vybz Kartel.

The book was copyrighted on August 5, 2011. Dawson shared that Kartel saw the manuscript before it was edited and he was very happy with it.
"I asked Kartel ... because he doesn't have a death wish, but he always feels that like 2Pac, Biggie, Bob Marley and Peter Tosh ... he was going to die before his time. And I asked him, how would you like to be remembered? [He said] a freedom fighter and he said this book will really capture that for him because he is going to put everything on the line to hit out against the system and that's what he has done and that's how he feels," said Dawson.

The Voice Of The Jamaican Ghetto will be printed in seven languages such as Dutch, French, Spanish, Japanese and Portuguese will be sold for $1,950 and should be available today. He shared that they have been facing some difficulties, however, as a lot of the expected sellers changed faces when they realised that the book is critical of the 'system'.
